This is my entry for the Grand Space Opera challenge held at CGTalk. Before I explain the story behind the image let me explain a little about the simbology. The most obvious element is the color palette. For the whole image I used a base of yellows and bright greens but I kept the girl element as purple. Though that's not natural at all, the purple-on-yellow/green helps me to direct the eye of my audience to the girl. The human soldiers are very slim and short while the robots are tall and menacing. That was used to represent the difference on their strength.
There's a robot that is about to kill the girl. That was used to portray the cruelty of the droids. They don't stop for nothing; not even a little innocent girl.
The backstory is as follows (as written in the challenge thread):
"The planet Earth has been scourged by an invasion for the last 10 years. Most of the human cities have been completely destroyed, and the humans have surrenedred their lands to the common enemy. One of the last spots of resistance is about to fall before the merciless foe..."
